Every year during National Day, the Chinese government closes for a week of celebration. Since the government is closed, we also get a week off from work.
A couple months ago, Liz and I had planned to come here during the October holidays. She had some time-shares she needed to use before the end of the year, so our only expense was airplane tickets and whatever food/drinks we consumed.
Our first stop was the Mingsha Mountain (whistling sands) and the Yueyaquan spring. We wore orange "booties" to help keep the sand out of our shoes. There we went 4-wheeling, rode an ultra-light aircraft, and played around in the sand.
The best part was "tubing" down the sand dune.

...and I thought it was about my hair... oh well, maybe I should restrict "Anonymous" comments. :)
