In August, a friend of mine wanted to adopt a dog, so we spent a morning at a no-kill dog shelter.
This shelter has approximately 6 acres of space where lots of dogs (100ish) call home. This shelter is definitely not to US standards, but it beats the alternative.
Most of the dogs (who play nice with each other) have free run of the grounds. The dogs with social issues are separated from the packs, but they have lots of space to stretch their legs.
