Last weekend I went to the “Chinggis Khaan statue complex” which is about 50km outside Ulaanbaatar. This complex is still under construction, they are planning on building a large "ger" camp surrounding the complex for tourists. When complete it should resemble a 13th century Mongol camp. You can take an elevator to the top of the horse's head, where you can enjoy the views. The statue is 40m tall.
Back in Ulaanbaatar, I visited the Zaisan Memorial. This memorial was built by the Russians in order to commemorate "unknown soldiers and heroes" from various wars. This memorial holds the best views of Ulaanbaatar.

Beautiful stuff...did I mention the landscape reminds me of West Texas sans tumbleweeds? Stark land and BIG blue skies always remind me of home. :)
