Greetings,
Last weekend, some folks from the office and I flew to Harbin to see the world famous Harbin Ice Festival. It was definitely worth the trip. We left Beijing early Saturday morning (17 Jan) arriving in Harbin by 10:30am.
Once we arrived, we grabbed a bite to eat (sucking cow marrow through a straw was the highlight of the meal). After getting our fill of the local cuisine, we went to watch the "Harbin Penguins" (Polar Bear Club) play in the river. It was a warm day for Harbin, approximately 20F. Before the show, the swimmers posed for pictures with the audience; apparently they all wax before the season begins.
From watching "old people" thrash around in the water, we made our way to the Harbin Disney Ice Festival. This is a smaller portion of the overall "ice festival." They had all your favorite Disney characters standing next to ice buildings and slides for the kids. This is also where I slipped on the ice and broke my camera.
