On Wednesday, I went to Beijing’s local REI-type store, “Decathlon,” and purchased a new winter jacket and backpack (sounds exciting, eh?).
Saturday, a friend and I drove to a local ski resort, just to check it out. What should have been a 2-hour drive ended up to be almost 6-hour; needless to say I will look at the map a little closer the next time I go on a road trip. The ski resort was having a snowboard competition the afternoon we arrived; just in time to see their closing ceremonies. GO RED BULL! The drive back to Beijing was quicker (who would have guessed). Once we returned to Beijing, I took my friend home then I joined several other friends for HotPot (HotPot is similar to fondue, but they use a broth instead of cheese). After stuffing ourselves at dinner, a couple of us went out for a foot massage (yummie!).
Sunday morning, I was invited for sweet potato pancakes by a neighbor who lives in the same apartment building. They were delicious… I then lay around the house until a co-worker and his wife arrived to watch “Eagle Eye” (definitely an action movie, I was exhausted after watching it). After they left, it was early to bed…
Next week should be even more interesting: “Harbin Ice Festival”
