Campaign 2008:

Well, I mailed my absentee ballet last week and I thought I missed out on ALL the Campaign 2008 advertisements, talking heads, and hoopla…until last night.

It started with my phone ringing at 12:30am, it was my Skype phone line (U.S. phone number). The darn thing woke me up from a dead sleep. After missing (sleeping through) two calls, I decided there were only two reasons someone would call me at this hour:

1. there is an emergency somewhere
2. someone is “drunk dialing” me (at the time I didn’t realize it was “noon” in the states).

I finally got out of bed to see if there was an emergency I was sleeping through; no messages from an “unlisted number.” So, I figured it wasn’t too much of an emergency…AND…if I was being drunk dialed, I’m sure they would call back.

4am rolls around and this time I was ready for it, I picked up the phone with my best “Hello…” Immediately, some Campaign person for some “still unknown candidate” was telling me why I should go out in vote in a couple weeks. I tried to tell her I had already voted, but she continued to tell me everything her candidate could do for me… “Why me, I thought…” I listened to her read her “script” for a moment before I set phone down and went back to sleep. I don’t remember if I hung up or not… I wasn’t even sure if her candidate was from Nebraska (where my phone number is registered) or from Kansas (where I am registered). Oh well…
